Research Interests

Dr. Shulman’s research interest focuses on the epidemiology and antibiotic resistance of Group A streptococci and streptococcal and post-streptococcal illnesses. He is also involved in several aspects of Kawasaki Disease, including studies relating to the etiology, pathogenesis, and treatment of this disease. As chairman of the Infection Prevention and Control Committee, his interests also involve the areas of hospital and community epidemiology of pediatric infectious diseases and nosocomial infections. He is also interested in the history of medicine, particularly as relates to pediatrics and infectious diseases.
