Harmony Maple, MPA, is the director of the Office of Sponsored Programs at Children’s Memorial Research Center. In this capacity, she oversees all items related to sponsored programs. Her responsibilities fall into two general categories: pre-award and post-award. Pre-award involves proposal submission, helping investigators find funding opportunities, sending progress reports to sponsors, and submitting proposals electronically. Post-award includes assisting investigators to interpret sponsor guidelines and requirements, setting up awards with the Finance Department, managing EC Grant, a database that tracks all proposals and compliance, writing reports, both to the Office of Sponsored Programs staff and to Philip Spina, the deputy director for administration, helping investigators with financial analysis, spending rates, budget shortfalls and closing out awards. Above all else, Maple likes the customer service aspect of her job: working with investigators and her team.
When she’s not on the job, Maple is a runner, and completed the Chicago Half-Marathon in September. She also likes to spend time with her family.
